Ra from sand filter samples using MnO2 impregnated resin and determination by sector field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

چکیده
An analytical procedure was proposed for the determination of 226 Ra at ultratrace levels in sand filters using sector field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Radium was preconcentrated using an impregnated manganese dioxide filter and separated from strontium using Eichrom“Sr-resin.” Following the extraction chromatography, polyatomic ions of Pb and W were eliminated by optimizing the operation parameter of ICP-MS. The detection limit of 226 Ra was found to be 0.9 fg ml -1 (33 mBq kg -1 ). Underground water samples and sands of the filters were analyzed for 226 Ra. Furthermore, radium removal from sand filters was studied using inorganic acids. 226 Ra was measured in the precipitation of dissolved oxide layers from the sand filters.

Determination of 137Ba Isotope Abundances in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma-optical Emission Spectrometry Combined with Least-squares Support Vector Machine Regression
A simple and rapid method for the determination of 137Ba isotope abundances in water samples by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) coupled with least-squares support vector machine regression (LS-SVM) is reported. By evaluation of emission lines of barium, it was found that the emission line at 493.408 nm provides the best results for the determination...
متن کاملSelective Separation and Preconcentration of trace Amounts of Gallium in Water and Rice Samples using Cloud Point Extraction and Determination by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry
In the present study a cloud-point extraction process using non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114 for selective extraction of gallium from aqueous solutions was developed. The method is based on the complex formation of Ga (III) with N, N′ -bis (salycilidene)-1, 2-phenylenediamine (salophen) as a chelating agent in buffer media of pH 5. After phase separation and dilution of the surfactant-rich pha...
متن کاملSample pretreatment using chitosan-based chelating resin for the determination of trace metals in seawater samples by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry.
A sample-pretreatment method using a chitosan-based chelating resin, ethylenediamine-N,N,N'-triacetate-type chitosan (EDTriA-type chitosan), was developed for the preconcentration of trace metals in seawater and separation of the seawater matrix prior to their determination by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The resin showed very good adsorption for transition metals and ...

A new method was developed for rapid and precise simultaneous determination of Mg/Ca, Sr/Ca, Mn/Ca, Cd/Ca, Ba/Ca and U/Ca ratios in foraminiferal shells using sector field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS). Element/calcium ratios were determined directly from intensity ratios using external, matrix-matched standard to correct for instrumental mass discrimination. Because of l...
متن کاملPlutonium, protactinium, uranium and thorium isotopes determination in environmental samples by SF ICP-MS
Alpha spectrometry is the most commonly used analytical tool for the determination of Pu, Am, Pa, U and Th long live radionuclides. Thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) and acceleration mass spectrometry (AMS) are also still considered as primary methods for the determination of their isotope ratios. Spectrometers with plasma ion sources now offer another efficient alternative method wit...
